| Drum Brakes |
| The standard drum brakes on the Charger Six are 10" x
2 1/2" front, and 10" x 1 3/4" rear. The standard drum brakes on the
Charger V-8 are 10" x 2 1/2" front and rear. They're not available on the
Charger R/T, which has 11" x 3" in the front, and 11" x 2 1/2" in the
rear as standard-manually adjustable and with heavy-duty axles only-optional at extra cost
on the Charger. The brake linings are bonded which means more lining area and longer
lining line, because there is no need for rivet holes. |
| Disc Brakes |
| Powerful, quick acting, fade-free front disc brakes are
available as an extra-cost option in the combination with 10" x 2 1/2" drum-type
rear brakes on the Charger R/T and Charger. Available with both the standard 14 inch
wheels, and the 3 15" wheels standard on the Charger R/T when equipped with the 426ci
Hemi V-8. Power brakes are required. |
| Dual Braking System |
| There are two master cylinders in one, one for the front
brakes and one for the rear brakes. Leading from the master cylinders there are separate
hydraulic lines. One to the rear wheels, and one to the front wheels. In case of damage to
one of the lines, the remaining one-half of the system is sufficient to bring the car to a
safe and controlled stop. A warning lamp on the dash goes on when there is a loss of
pressure in the system, plus signaling when the parking brake is on. |
